My MBA Experience: Time Flies When You Are Having Fun?

“Time flies when you are having fun?”  I had to end this title with a question mark, because school is a love-hate relationship for me.  Some days it feels like eating broccoli, which I know is good for me, but it just doesn’t taste as good as that extra helping of Grandma’s apple pie.  I am talking about that required course you just have to take if you want to graduate.  My advice is to take it one step at a time, focus on the next assignment, and don’t allow your assignments to be bunched up at the end.  Some programs are very good in that they have required assignments due by the end of every week, this helps the procrastinator in some of us to keep on task.  The same goes for when you take those  pesky required courses.  Remember, if you bunch them all at the end, you’ll have a big mouthful broccoli to get through before you can sink your teeth into the sweet taste of a degree and the satisfaction of being done.

Enough of the pep talk and leftover Thanksgiving food analogies…  I just completed my second to last semester for my MBA and I feel like celebrating.  The light at the end of the tunnel is not so faint anymore and the only thing I can think about is how fast the past 4 semesters of the MBA program has gone by.  Had you talked to me during the second semester when I was literally trying to learn Greek in statistics, I may have not sounded as optimistic.  But those days are behind me now with only one semester left.  And, I am left wondering if the saying is true that time really does fly when you are having fun.  I have 50 new friends a.k.a. classmates who I have met up with in a few cities across the U.S., South America, Europe, and Asia.  I have been able to understand the current global financial crisis thanks to my Global Economics and Global Finance classes.  Maybe I have been having fun all along and just holding the celebrating until the end – one more semester and the party shall begin.
